February is the most popular month for ski holidays in Europe. UK and European school half-term holidays drive peak demand and it is also, on average, one of the snowiest months across the Alps.

Tignes leads the February rankings decisively at 186cm, nearly 50cm ahead of Chamonix in second place at 140cm. This reflects Tignes' exceptional position at 3456m where February storm cycles deliver some of the heaviest snowfall recorded anywhere in the Alps. The February rankings are notably diverse. Nassfeld in Austria sits at #4 with 130cm, Arabba in Italy appears at #9 with 114cm, and Galtür in Austria at #10 with 113cm. The Pyrenean resorts Cauterets and Grand Tourmalet also feature in the top 15.

February half-term, typically weeks 2 and 3, is the most congested period on the mountain. The first or last week of February often offers identical snow conditions with noticeably quieter slopes. If you have flexibility on dates, it is worth considering.
